Trump's Cabinet Ls (so far)
just color me mostly unimpressed
Donald Trump is already starting to stack up Ls in his cabinet picks so let’s get into it.
First up is Kristi Noem as the head of Homeland Security. You may remember Kristi Noem from the controversy of her bragging about killing her dog Cricket and a goat because the animals had the audacity to have a bad owner, namely Kristi herself.
She quite literally thought it was a selling point to murder a puppy where children could see it because she neglected to train and then restrain her own pet.
If Trump is itching to put a puppy murderer into a top office at least put her where she belongs over at the ATF.
Considering that Noem also doesn’t believe in free speech, at least when criticizing Israel is concerned, I’m not sure giving her the power to put everybody on watch lists is a good idea.
Next up is Pete Hegseth who Trump wants to put in as Secretary of Defense.
Pete here is a real gem. He’s a “Conservative” who literally wrote that it should be public policy “preventing divorce of parents with kids” which he later revised to “preventing wanton divorce” in the paperback editions of his book - all while being twice divorced - so far - because he can’t keep it in his pants.
The dude who wants the government to prevent “wanton divorce” cheated on both of his wives.
But that’s not really relevant to the position of Secretary of Defense I hear some of you furiously typing so instead lets talk about his work with Vets for Freedom which was a misnomer since their version of “Freedom” meant sending more troops into Iraq and Afghanistan under the lie that somehow perpetual war in that region was tied to American freedoms.
Pete also bragged about meetings with Trump where he made the case to pardon three soldiers accused or convicted of war crimes.
Remember when Trump didn’t pardon Ross Ulbricht or Edward Snowden or Julian Assange? Yeah, that’s because he was too busy listing to guys like Pete when it came to the protecting the warfare State from their own actions.
Ron Paul worked to keep Pete out of the Senate in 2012 over his terrible stances, it’d be nice if we could keep him out of the Cabinet in 2025 consideringn Donald Trump Jr claimed he was interested in such a task.
The one announcement that isn’t terrible is that Trump announced that Elon Musk would somehow be working with Vivek Ramaswamy in a new department called the Department of Government Efficiency (or D.O.G.E., because memes) but I’d like to point out the irony of creating a new bureaucracy for the purpose of efficiency.
They should have named this the Department of Redundancy Department considering that there are countless “oversight” agencies already, theoretically, tasked with the problem of government waste and inefficiency. The solution here would have been to consolidate and abolish those clearly useless entities and put Elon and Vivek in charge of actually getting the work done. Alas we’re apparently getting more government with the promise of less.
I fully expect many reports to come out of this new D.O.G.E. meme agency followed by plenty of excuses aimed at Congress or the Courts unless we see Trump re-issue Executive Order 13957 on day one to streamline the Federal workforce instead of punting the cutting of government bloat into a feckless campaign promise again.
We’ll see what happens with D.O.G.E. I guess but I’m not holding out too much hope yet what with these other terrible picks on the agenda.
