Trump vs Warhawk Liz Cheney
Another day, another Trump statement taken grossly out of context and misconstrued because the side who claims to care about combatting misinformation can’t help themselves but go to war in defense of lies.
What I’m talking about is the much-maligned statement Trump made to Tucker Carlson about Liz Cheney being a warhawk.
The statement is being called political violence and a direct threat to Liz Cheney because he said, and I quote;
“But she’s a radical warhawk, let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, okay, let’s see how she feels about it. You know when the guns are trained on her face.
“You know, they’re all warhawks when they’re sitting in Washington in a nice building saying ‘Oh Gee, well, let’s send 10,000 troops right into the mouth of the enemy’, but she’s a stupid person.”
Claiming that that is advocating political violence is patently absurd because while people are focussing upon the 9 barrels being trained on Cheney, in no situation ever has a firing squad - again, what the left is claiming Trump was talking about - start with giving the victim a rifle of their own.
The words “let’s put her with a rifle” means to arm her.
He’s saying it’s easy to be a warhawk, and to send others off to die, when you live in a place of privilege and have to bear none of the risks so let’s send these warhawks off to fight and then see how they feel.
And really right, not simply holding “a weapon of war” in Italy.
If you’re being honest about it, the worst critique of what Trump said is in how he said it because he’s not exactly a concise wordsmith but this is a standard argument amongst the anti-war, anti-world police, & anti-imperialist mindset.
I’ve made this argument countless times over the years and it used to be a calling card of the anti-war left but then again the left used to at least pretend to care about the downtrodden used as cannon fodder by the elites.
Now today that’s being ignored as everybody freaking out about this is simply engaging willfully, of as a useful idiot, in forever war propaganda at the behest of the Military Industrial Complex and their boosters like Liz Cheney.
I’m guessing it’ll again take Snopes 7 years to correct the record on the actual context of this statement because we live in the upside down where saying warhawks are bad is somehow political violence but the endless bombs those warhawks drop are the status quo worth defending.
Cheers.
